Rabbits can breed very quickly and their numbers can increase ten-fold in a very short time period. Female rabbits can reproduce at a rate of two to six times every year giving birth to between 2-6 young per litter. It is important to manage rabbit populations as if untreated they can be very destructive to crops and garden vegetation. They also cause a lot of damage to trees and can strip the bark to completely girdle the tree. They also prefer cherries, blackberries, raspberries strawberries and root vegetables. Rabbits also carry disease which can be fatal to pets and sometimes humans.
